Chuc Mung Nam Moi!~

Hello!
As the title says, Happy (Lunar) New Years! :D

I just volunteered at the local Tet fest with Chanel!
We didn't do much, it wasn't as busy as last year since it was rained out on Saturday. I actually prefer it when it's super busy!
I got a couple things though. Chanel's mom got me a sweater, since buying 2 would save us 4 dollars hehe. If you like it , you can find it here! They also have lots of other designs , so check it out :)
I went to Santa Ana for the ...hm, I don't know what to call it, really. It was like...wasn't really a festival, it was more like a place where people bought tons and tons of FLOWERS for the New Year. It was outdoors, but I went inside the mall too and I got a phone charm, and a Rilakkuma charm to attach to it cause it was a bit plain by itself

I also ordered a new phone case!
I first saw this at Santa Ana in the mall, but I could only find one for the iPhone...so sad... But Chanel told me that they had it online, and my mom bought it for me at the end of finals week! I'm just waiting for it to arrive in the mail now :)

NOTDs, haven't done these in a while hm?

Gradient pink nails, I don't know I called these reverse-gradated since they came from the cuticle and not the tip? Haha

And the nails I'm wearing right now, and I literally just did like 30 minutes ago!
Red for Tet and silver glitter

I have some upcoming posts planned, like LUSH product reviews, and also I won a giveaway recently and I got the package 2 weeks ago, so this post is a bit overdue, but it's coming!

Lemon Macaron Recipe!

Hello~
I've gotten a request for a recipe for macarons, which I posted about in this post!

This makes approximately 2 dozen sandwiched cookies :)
Ingredients:
3/4 (100 gram) ground almonds
1 cup (125 gram) powdered sugar (also called confectioners sugar)
2 extra large eggs or 3 medium eggs, seperated and room temperature
Lemon extract or the peel of 1 lemon
1/4 cup (32 g) granulated sugar
Yellow Food colouring
Premade lemon curd (sorry, I got it store bought!)

1) Put the ground almonds and powdered sugar into a food processor. Pulse until a fine powder is created.
2) Sift the mixture into the bowl and set aside for later.
3) Take the whites of the egg and whip them to soft peaks (room temperature eggs whip the best!) Then slowly add in the granulated sugar till all of it is dissolved. Whip to stiff peaks. At that point you can also add in the lemon extract and coloring.
4) When it reaches stiff peaks, stop. Fold in the dry mix slowly, and about 1/3 at a time. When it's done it should be thick and ribbon like. (Some recipes say "flows like magma")
5) What I do is, I let it rest in the bowl for 15 minutes, then I transfer it to a baggie and I pipe circles onto a sheet of parchment paper (NOT wax paper, my friend made that mistake D:)
6) Let the circles rest for another 15-20 minutes.
7) Rap or bang the baking sheet or tray on a flat surface to release air bubbles and create the "pied" or frills. (lit translated: foot)
8) Bake for 10-14 minutes at 300 F /160 C.* When you tap the tops of the shell, it should be stable and not squishy.
9) Take them out of the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes
10) Fill with lemon curd and sandwich with another cookie!

*If you notice your macarons cracking after the first batch, lower the heat.

It took me alot of tries to get it right, so don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out right the first time! Also be very precise with measurements and don't rush :D
I hope you get to try out this recipe, and tell me how it goes if you do!

Macarons, Macarons, Macarons~

Hello~
Happy New Year! It's a bit late, but better late than never!
Have you all been keeping up with your resolutions? I've been doing Pilates by watching Blogilates! She's amazing, I swear.

Anyways, as the title might imply, I've been making macarons!
As most of you know, they're crazy expensive instore. I always wondered why, I mean aren't they just almond cookies?
...NOW I understand.

This was my first batch
Nutella filled chocolate shells
If I could describe this batch in one word...CRACKS. They were all shattered when they came out the oven. (sadface) Edible, but after I forgot to put them in the fridge they became inedible. (sadderface!)
This was my third attempt ... My second attempt was so "un-aesthetically appealing" as my friend put it, I didn't even take pictures. It sure was delicious though. Anyways, Strawberry jam filled Strawberry shell :D
THIS was the first batch I got right! Lemon shell and lemon curd filling, and it was really yummy, if I do say so myself :D I brought some for my friends and they ate it all up before lunch began haha
This is the most recent and the last batch I will make for a while since it takes so much time and effort D:. I call them strawberry lemonade macarons, since it's a strawberry lemon shell with strawberry lemon buttercream! I had the most trouble with this since the buttercream didn't ...whip correctly. It ended up okay though haha :D

That's all I guess! I hope you enjoyed my food spam :)
